  1. Neocate Nutra

Just curious if anyone has tried this at all? I was thinking of trying to replace some of the food Maggie eats to see if it helps with her constant pooing. I'm not sure if she is still having allergy issues or if she truely has hypermotility like her docs suspect. All I know is the poor kid has a very sore but by the end of the day.

  2. Update! Ben's home and on TPN

Ben is home after 6 weeks in hospital. They rescoped him and found he still had significant eosinophilic infiltration in his gut despite all the treatment he has been on. They also found bacterial overgrowth in his small intestine and he has immune system deficiency which may account for the pneumatosis intestinalis they found. They think he has EDS type 3 and that he gut problems are probably part of that. He did an hour of physio a day for 3 weeks but will need a lot more to strengthen...

  3. Wave Hi! Just checking in! :)

I've been away for months-- busy with nursing school and all that. Just wanted to check in. Nitara's trying a bunch of new foods again but definitely not dairy, eggs, or other animal products. I don't know her EE status as she has not had a scope for a long time, but she's continuing to gain slowly but surely. She was 46 pounds at the ped today, down by 46.8 pounds last month, but she's been really sick this week (either RSV or pneumonia/bronchitis). So really that's not bad. She's still above...

  4. Announcement ICD9 codes for EOS GI disorders

ICD-9-CM Codes for Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases In September 2007, APFED submitted its proposal for new ICD-9-CM codes recognizing eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs) to the NCHS, which were approved in October 2008. EGIDs can now be coded properly, but only if your physician and hospital use the new codes. The ICD-9-CM coding system is an international classification system which groups related diseases and procedures for the purpose of reporting statistical...

  5. Allergy results are in...

Negative again. :( This was blood test as opposed to skin test. So we still don't know for sure why she is reacting to foods. We are supposed to try pears this weekend. I'm excited, but very nervous. For an update of our recent appointments, you can look at our caring bridge site...

  6. How many Eos are too many? (help for a friend)

I have a friend who has a 1 yr old DD and she is really struggling with food reactions that are not showing up on allergy testing. Her mom is on such a rigid elimination diet for breastfeeding that there are few things she can eat. She is limited to fresh fruits/veggies, rice, turkey, potatoes, and I think that is it. This is the only way she can nurse her DD without her reacting. So, she finally had a scope done last week and it showed no eos or rings in the esophagus, no issues in the colon,...
