~A place to discuss behavioral conditions and concerns ranging from Depression to ADD/ADHD & More~
I hope I am not jinxing myself by typing this but I need to breathe a huge sigh no relief. Mykal has been in so much trouble for almost 2 years if not 2 years. He had lost EVERYTHING, every extra ciricular activities, everything in his room and we were at the point he basically lived in his room where he only came out for meals and the bathroom. Mykal has "mild" ADHD, ODD and is 14 now and we just couldn't handle him. His psych wasn't helping much because the few meds we tried...
I'm at my wits end with CJ. He does hypnosis and sees a psychologist, both say the same thing, he just won't open up. Some days he is great, laughing, have fun, smiling but most days he is just, for lack of a better word, blah! He shows no emotion at all but then can snap at the drop of a hat and just lose it. Crying, yelling and sometimes refusing to talk at all. These episodes typically end up with him closing himself in his room. It happened last night. He had installed a new game o...
Pixie's really challenging behaviors emerged when we started to potty train after Christmas, I did not put two and two together until we stopped training last week. There were issues before that, but not really "shocking" just challenging. Well, we tried potty training for two months and it was obviously causing stress near the end (we went on vacation in the middle and it really threw her off). We stopped the potty training last week and put her back in diapers. She is SO much more relaxed...
We took Pixie to her well child check today and she got a referral to the child psychiatrist. It has not been an easy day for me. I know she is a "difficult" child to parent, but until today I let myself think it was maybe just quirkiness. The doctor was quite clear it is more than that. I'm sad for her that she has to deal with what will be a lifelong difficult struggle to manage her mental health. Selfishly, I'm sad for me that now I am 'officially' parenting two special needs kids, both...
We have a situation that became scary today. There are times when Caleb goes out of control. We know why, but he's gotten big enough that he's harder to control. Usually, I would bring our little umbrella stroller with and strap him in and let him safely have his fit. Usually, being strapped in and able to "hide" in the stroller with his comfort items was enough to calm him pretty quickly. However, he doesn't fit in his stroller right now. Last week, our caregiver took him to...
i spoke to the dr. sat nite-had him paged actually since ireall didnt like how weepy she was-he said not to give it to her anymore and to call him on tues.which i just did.he just put her on medadate cr which is a stimulant like the vyvanse she was on except its much shorter acting so hopefully she can eat dinner and keep on gaining weight?ant one have any luck on medadate?
my 8 yr old dd has add-primarily distractabillity-we did the vyvanse 30 mg-she weighs 40lbs-and for a couple of months she was great.then the side effects got worse.i say got worse because they were always there, i just attributed them to her being uncooperative as usual.she was in bed by 8pm and not falling asleep till 11 or 12.then she was a horror to deal with in the morning as school starts at 8:15.she was also losing and not gaining any weight.as it is she is in the 3rd percentile for...
