Thanks to everyone who took the poll and posted! Looks like most everyone wants to refill this recipe resource here! Dawn has so kindly linked to the old recipe resource in the new recipe resource forum, so you can go over there to look for things more easily while we work on it or to get one of your old favorites that is over there. In the mean time, we are planning on doing one recipe thread a week and you can have plenty of time to go look for those awesome recipes you want to share...

A mom in my mother's group made the best egg dish for breakfast today!! It was SO easy! She made "egg cupcakes". She used a muffin tin to make them and used a thin slice of deli ham as the cupcake liner. Then, she cracked an egg into each liner. She preheated the oven to 325 and just kept an eye on it as she was getting ready, so no ideas on time. She made 2 doz of them (but you could make as many or few as you want) and the ham had just enough salt in it to salt the egg a little and they were...
ok I love my crockpots, yes I have 2. I have a 6 quart and a 3 quart that comes off the burner part and can be put on the stove. I need a new regular crockpot since mine the cord doesn't look to healthy on anymore. Here is my delema: I have a 6 quart now and about half the time I have to use my roaster as a crockpot to make enough food to have sometimes even enough or just some leftovers as I am cooking for 5. My oldest son is 14 and can eat a TON,lol and the other boys aren't getting...
I made a batch of the "brown bag burritos" yesterday and we had some for dinner this evening. Yum! So, what did you have for dinner this evening?
Does anyone have a tried & true breakfast burrito recipe that you can make up in advance and freeze? It has to be one without salsa or spicy stuff, because my daughter is super sensitive to spicy stuff.
I made up the Brown Bag burritos with my chicken changes and dropped off 20 burritos at my friend's house. She is the one fighting cancer and has 2 teenage boys. I'm sure they are going to LOVE this one. I know that she really appreciates the meals too. This was just the thing I was looking for to make for them. Thanks for posting it.
I just uncovered Maya's car seat -- she's coming in a few weeks to visit us in Florida -- and the straps have some mold on them. Now I kicking myself that I didn't clean them better before putting the seat on the porch! Any ideas for cleaning them? I don't think they will come off the car seat. I've tried Woolite Upholstery Cleaner and that did nothing. The seat is sitting in the sun right now. What can I try next!
I am not doing goodie bags, I'll be doing favors. What type of favors have you done?
I have been experimenting around with different ingredients to find the "keeper" pot roast recipe that everyone will willingly eat and enjoy. I have found some that are ok, but I have been looking for one with tender meat and a LOT of flavor, not only in the meat, but also the carrots and potatoes I cook with the roast. The one I made up today was a HUGE hit here, so I thought I would share... We had a few cans of beefy mushroom soup sitting in the pantry (not sure why we had so many...
I am going to be making these tomorrow, or later this week. This is a blog I follow and my friend has already made them and her family loved them!! I am going to tweek the recipe a bit for our taste. It will be so awesome to have homemade burritos in the freezer!
I just got this very cool book, The Backyard Homestead (edited by Carleen Madigan), last week and I'm in love. It's basically a "how to" book on living off your land, no matter how small it is. I'm only into it by a couple of chapters, but I've already learned many new things. The book has chapters for practically everything - from planning, planting & caring for your garden to small animal husbandry to how to store and/or prepare what you grow, including some great recipes. It's also well...
One of the guys on dh crew has to have a treatment done to his thyroid and isn't able to have any salt for 4 weeks. Does anyone have a good recipie for cookies or sweets that doesn't take any salt or product that has salt (such as butter). I made salt free bread today but dh would like to suprise his crew member with a couple of things. Thanks!
Okay - here is my question. Do you store anything UNDER your kitchen sink? I imagine most people store cleaning supplies. The problem in our kitchen is that it is very small. There is a LOT of storage space - but it is VERY in-accessible. The largest space - also contains the plumbing under the sink. What kind of things would you store under there? Any thing you wouldn't?
I need some ideas! What are you having tonight?
I am not sure if this is the right place for this. Recently, I've run into issues with our insurance company claiming to have not recieved referrals from specialists we've seen with the boys when I've hand-walked them to that particular specialists secretary. This has not been an issue really until recently and now it seems to be a big problem and I'm left with lots of "little" bills b/c things are getting billed without referrals and there is no paper trail. I've come to the realization...
Cabbage is on sale cheap, but what do I make with it? I really never cook with cabbage so I have no idea. Do you have a really delicious cabbage recipe for a family who is not sure if they are cabbage eaters?:)
For those of you who observe Lent, and don't eat meat on Fridays-what kinds of things do you cook for dinner? It seems like all we ever have is cheese pizza or fish sticks. I'd make better fish but the kids won't eat anything that's "real fish" (as they call it). Our church has 2 fish fry's but that still leaves me with a lot of Fridays! Tonight we're having the gourmet fish sticks since Jack and dh have to get to 5:30 Mass and then cub scouts.
We've lived in our home for 2.5 years, I don't know how long the dishwasher has lived there. It's a fairly new looking Maytag. It's always worked great......until about 3 weeks ago. It's leaving a powdery residue on some dishes and sometimes doesn't clean them thoroughly either. At first I thought maybe it was because I switched from Palmolive gel detergent to Sam's Club powder detergent. But I switched back and still the residue. I also tried adding some Jet Dry....still the residue. ...
Oh my gosh! I recently found a recipe to make monkey bread from scratch and it smells so good. DH loves monkey bread, but has a big issue with artificial ingredients. He's a nut about that. I'm careful, he's crazy! My dough is rising and the smell of yeast is making me want a loaf of homemade bread. And, I know I'm weird, but I love kneading dough. There is something therapeutic about it.
Does anyone use these?? Do you like them?? I bought one for pretty cheap today after coupons and have used it once. I tried to pull it off to see what kind of residue it's going to leave inside my dryer....KWIM It leaves a "sticky" residue where it gets "stuck" onto the inside of the dryer tub. Does this get worse over time is there anyway to get it off??? I just don't want to use it if it's going to leave a sticky residue on the inside. I'm not happy about that.
My dh wants to get one. He has sa friend that is selling one for cheap and he says it will save on our heat bill. Like this, but of course an old one. My concerns are- we would put it in the den, so would it really circulate heat thru the whole house, or just that room? Does wood burning leave your house dustier?
tonight?
Guess it was inevitable...it was almost 15 yrs old! It was one of those space saver under the cabinet ones. Soooo...we need to get a new one. I have been out of the can opener loop for so long, I have no idea which ones are good. We are looking for an electric one that is not too pricey and is reliable enough to last for a long time. Any recommendations?
What do you serve with BBQ chicken breasts that is healthy? I have canned/frozen corn, but cob isn't in season right now. My tummy feels icky from my weekly injection, so planning tomorrow night's sides just doesn't sound appealing. I got a great deal on chicken and a yummy BBQ sauce. The chicken is marinating as we speak, but no clue on easy & healthy sides. Ideas for sides that are healthy & simple (I work tomorrow until dinner time).
I wish there was a button you could press and dinner would appear....:skeptical: (I have no idea what this smiley is doing, but it's kinda how I feel~~one eyebrow up, the other eye half closed...you get the idea). It's nearly 7pm here and I have done NADA :embarassed:when it comes to dinner prep. Dh is out of town, but my dad is staying here tonight and he has worked a long hard day and really needs to eat something. Anyway. What's for dinner at your house tonight??
Does anyone know a humane way to get rid of birds? They are in our tree and they poop everywhere 2-3 times a day, all over the wheelchair ramp and sidewalk, I don't even wanna walk through it, then if I push Emily's chair up the ramp it gets on her tires and in the house "Yuck" It is like they all go at once, sounds like it's raining, they are grackles if that makes any difference.
Anyone have a good one? We have an ancient electrolux that needs to be replaced. All hardwood or laminate floors with some area rugs.
So I picked up a pack of 'picnic pork roasts' the other day... and I haveb NO idea what to do with them... I have never cooked them before (but they were reduced cheap, so I got them~what do I do with them (it's 2 smallish pieces)
