Child's Background

Libby is 15 years old going on 20. She is in the 8th grade and loves art & music. Libby has mild reflux diagnosed when she was 4 years old and takes Zantac. She also has Autoimmune Thyroiditis which causes her to be hypothyroid so she takes Synthroid every day as well. We are also looking at possible growth hormone deficiancies as well with her. She has had 3 surgeries in her life, 2 on her eyes to treat strabisimus (8/95 & 3/97) and her tonsils and adenoids were removed(5/04). She also had a 6 month struggle with post infectious viceral hypersensitivity (3/06) so we try to protect her from additional stomach bugs to prevent a recurance. She has mild ADD which she is able to control with coping techniqes such as list making and beat the clock games with herself and takes MOM or Miralax for mild constipation issues. Libby is a wonderful child who so far even at almost 14 still is loving and respectful and only has minor episodes of teenageritis. Libby has tested as gifted in social stud

Child's Background

Wesley is 13 and is one of the most loving children I have known. He knows no stranger or enemy and always has a hug for you. Wes has significant reflux and is 9 years post fundo(9/98) with g-tube. His first g-tube was removed 1/99 and then had to be replaced with a second surgery on 11/99 because of serious gas bloat syndrome that caused severe gagging and retching. Besides those two surgeries he has had 3 other surgeries. He had surgery to repair a penal chordee (1/97) a surgery to release the compression on his trachea and esophagus caused by his double aortic arch w/ vascular ring (7/98) and his tonsils and adenoids removed(11/03). He still has compression on his esophagus from the vascular ring as seen on endoscopy last year. That same endoscopy showed a hiatal hernia which was a new development for him. We has a number of other issues as well, he has ADHD and anxiety which he takes Adderall for and he also has some social and hyper focus problems as well. He has migrains(dx'd at

Child's Background

Tim is my rough and tumble little guy and totally differant from my other two. Where they are layed back he is right in your face and ready for action all the time. At 10 years old he has a lot of attitude and tends to be a challenge. Yet when given the oportunity to help someone he usualy jumps right into action. Tim has also had a fundo 8 years ago(8/99) with a g-tube that he still has. Tim still refluxes and has since 6 months post fundo and is on Protonix. He has DGE with constipation so is on Erythromycin and Miralax every day. He has Reactive Airway disease from the reflux but thankfully we have had only minimal problems with it since he began taking Aciphex when he was 3.

Tim also has feeding aversions and eats minimaly when he eats. He was totaly tube dependant for 18 months after his fundo and has been on tube feeds off and on ever since. He currently gets 4 8oz bolus feeds daily. He is also on Periactin to help with his stomach and appitite. Tim has had 2 other surgeries besides his fundo, he had ear tubes placed (9/00) and bilateral ingunal hernias repaired(11/03). He also has behavioral issues due to ADHD which he takes Adderall for and problems with fine motor delays and Sensory integration disfunction. While he can be a bit of a challenge he is still a lovable little boy but he tends to keep things in so we work hard to get him to talk with us about the things that bother him rather than acting out. Tim has also been identified as being gifted in Math and science as well as having advanced cognitive abilities.
