I'm not really sure if Corianne's class watched it or not...but I have no issue with it. It doesn't bother me in the least.
I'll have to ask Corianne tomorrow...she already fell asleep.
My kids came home with a permission slip to watch the speech. They are going to show it on Sept 11th as part of Tribute to America day. I will allow them to watch it. I think my kids should know who the president is and hear him address them, to know that kids are important, too.

Kira's kindergarten class watched it...I didn't have a problem with it but would hav elike to hav eknown they were going to.

The grade school here didn't show it. The intermediate school didn't show it and the middle school(my 9th grader) did but had technical difficulties so in the end they didn't see it. Damien came home with a note about it. We talked to him about it and gave him the choice if he wanted to see it or not.

The hoopla/opposition absolutely baffles me, but I digress...
My kids' First Day of School was today, so they weren't in school when it aired. I'm looking forward to sharing it with them, though.

I saw it (taped it off C-Span) and thought it was fine (and I also did not vote for Obama and do not necessarily agree with all he stands for at the moment). I was glad that Nicholas' school opted to wait until later in the week (Thurs) to allow the parents an opportunity to view it and make a decision from there. I wanted to see it to know what the kids saw in case he came home wanting to discuss it and I would know how to answer their questions with regard to the content presented or reiterate what was said.
I also agree that I think the issue was more with the materials that the DOE was providing to go with the speech...just poor choice of wording that caused issue. Our district said that they would not be using the DOE documents, opting instead to create their own materials to use that would go along with the state social studies objectives for each grade level to make sure they were optimizing their class time while using the speech.

Elyssa is in a private school and I don't believe they saw it (don't think they have the technology to do that anyway). I didn't so much have a problem with him talking to the kids about doing well in school and that, I just had a problem with the curriculum that was being sent with it, but since it wasn't an issue here I didn't look into it that much so can't make an educated statement weather I would let Elyssa watch it or not. Katlyn is in preschool so that wasn't and issue there either.
